Summer of 2019

2018-2019 was awesome!!!
Here are a few highlights:

Week 1 at Crescendo Phoenixville:
-
We Built our own violins out of cardboard. We took the first steps in learning how to hold and care for our cardboard violins in preparation for getting out the real violins!
-
We played rhythm games. It only took one day for everyone to go in a circle and say their name on the beat. Seems simple now, but it’s going to get complicated fast!
-
We Learned Solfege. Remember Do-Re-Mi from the Sound of Music? These kids can sing the whole scale WITH the hand signals. Also, they figured out how to sing Mary Had a Little Lamb and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star using solfege syllables and hand signals.
-
Guest Vocalists from the High School dropped by. They sang a duet that captivated the kids and then led us in legit vocal warm-ups!

Volunteers from the middle school helping build violins
At 6 weeks of lessons, we learned a classic fiddle tune, Boil Them Cabbage Down. Learning the violin is hard work! So we decided to have some fun along the way!
